The Tree

Last Christmas, Jon's parents gave us a gift certificate for a tree from Zollinger's Tree Farm in Providence so we could get some shade in the back yard. The spring was extremely rainy in Cache Valley this year so we waited...and waited...and waited for it to stop raining. Well, no such luck, so one Saturday, we put the kids' boots on, rolled up our jeans and trudged through the mud at the tree farm to pick our our tree. We picked out an imperial honey locust tree.

Jon's parents came by that evening to see how our tree was looking, but we had only just begun digging the hole to get it in. David picked up a shovel & began helping Jon dig while Sherrie kept the kids entertained (and out of trouble!) so I could help, too.

Alex & Elise were excited about our tree and wanted to help dig the hole.

But they were satisfied to mostly stay with Grandma & participate in a more "supervisory role" over us drudges.

I never did get a picture of the tree while it was in full leaf, but it's going to be great! They grow relatively quickly and have a nice sized canopy, so we're excited to finally have it in.
