Halloween 09

Every year, Jon's uncle Kent has a big pumpkin carving party. We usually start around 6:30 or 7 pm and carve as many pumpkins as we can. Jon & I have learned to drive separately because he always has to stay until all of the pumpkins have been carved. :) It's a fun time, though. We have nachos and treats and the kids usually con someone into carving their pumpkins for them.

Alex & Elise joking around with Jon's cousin Marnie.

Paparazzi shot of Jon & me. Nnnoooooo!

Okay, we'll smile for the camera now.

Raechel was great and helped Alex carve his first pumpkin. He's not a fan of ripping out the innards, though.

But once it was carved, he was excited to do his "big reveal" for everyone. It's tradition--everyone's pumpkin is held up to the light to show how super-awesome it is. :)

Elise wanted to do her own pumpkin, too, so I helped her out. She had no problem grabbing the gunk inside her pumpkin. She was pretty proud of herself, actually. Haha!

Then she helped me cut the shapes out.

Elise's pumpkin was a Halloween cat.

Here's Alex showing off his second pumpkin. Aunt Wendy was very nice and let the kids take home their 3 pumpkins. They were excited to display them on the front step.

Here's the pumpkin I did...it's a dragon.

These next 3 are the ones Jon did. He picks difficult ones every year, but they always turn out amazing.

Creepy man (the pumpkin, not Jon--haha!)

The next day was Halloween. Jon & I took the kids to a Trunk or Treat at our ward building. It was fun to hang out with the people in our neighborhood. Then we took the kids Trick or Treating at a couple of houses in David & Sherrie's neighborhood.

Alex got to dress up as a Fire Chief & Elise was dressed as Piglet.
